How to Make Your Own Natural Exfoliant | Self-Care

If you are into DIY projects, this article is for you! Let's explore a homemade recipe, for a body exfoliant using only natural ingredients and oil. There are plenty of different recipes online, like coffee and brown sugar exfoliant, but no matter what recipe you choose, it's IMPORTANT to make a test first. Start by using the exfoliant in a small area of the skin and wait some good minutes before applying to all, at least 15 minutes, this way you will avoid an unwanted skin reaction, this rule goes for every product that you apply to your skin because every skin is different and will react in a unique way.

Now let's dive into it and discover how to prepare a Lime exfoliant for the body.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons of skin coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon of lime juice

Preparation:

It couldn't be simpler. Mix all the ingredients very well and store the exfoliant in a well-closed jar. Voilà!

Storage:

Keep the jar in a dry, dark (without direct light) environment. The expiration date is the same as coconut oil. Also, this proportion is a small one so, if you use it weekly, it will go in a blink of an eye!

How to apply:

Apply with your fingers directly to your wet skin with a gentle circular motion. It will improve the softness and circulation of your skin, giving it a healthier luminosity. Then gently remove it with water, dry the skin and apply your favorite moisturizing.

Benefits:

Lime has amazing proprieties and the smell is simply delightful! Limes have antibacterial properties, reducing skin spots and fighting acne. Sea salt, on the other hand, prevents precocious aging and helps to remove dead skin, cleansing the skin pores.

Another trick for great skin is hydration! So keep your bottle handy to drink regularly.
